The Toronto Raptors put six players in double figures on Wednesday night led by 30 points from Kawhi Leonard, to take down the Golden State Warriors 123-109 at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California in game three of the NBA Finals. Toronto leads the best of seven series 2-1.
Golden State came into their first home game of this years Finals hobbled, playing without Kevin Durant who missed his seventh straight game, and also Klay Thompson and Kevon Looney who were both injured in a game two win. Toronto started solidly and led by seven after one quarter after building a 12 point lead, before extending to their biggest lead of the first half at 52-38 in the second. The Raptors put two players in double figures in the first half led by Kyle Lowry with 15 points, and Pascal Siakam with 14. Steph Curry kept the Warriors in the game cutting the 14 point lead to seven at one point, and Toronto still led by eight at the break. Curry had 25 points, eight rebounds, and four assists in playing 20 of the first 24 minutes. The hosts led only once for a very short time early on at 5-4.
Toronto continued to lead not letting Golden State back into it in the third. The Raptors hit seven three-pointers in the quarter, including three from the arc by Danny Green to build a 16 point lead and led by 13 heading to the fourth. Curry had another big half for the Warriors but could only pull his team as close as seven the rest of the way, as the Raptors stole back home court building their biggest lead of 17 in the final 12 minutes of action.
Leonard added seven rebounds, six assists, two steals, and two blocks to his point total to fill up the stat sheet for Toronto. Lowry finished with 23 points, four rebounds, and nine assists. Siakam and Green each had 18 points, with Siakam adding nine rebounds and six assists, and Green adding five rebounds. Marc Gasol had 17 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Rounding out double digit scorers for the Raptors was Fred VanFleet with 11 points. Curry had a game high 47 points for Golden State, also adding eight rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. Draymond Green had 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Andre Iguodola also chipped in 11 points, six rebounds, and three assists. The Raptors shot over 50 percent from the floor at 52.4, while the Warriors shot at 40 percent. Toronto also made 17 three-pointers in the win, and Golden State knocked in 12.
Game four from Oracle Arena will tipoff on Friday night at 9 p.m.
