PVHS rolls to win over previously undefeated Central

Two undefeated teams squared off in Howland on Wednesday afternoon as the Lady Howlers of Penobscot Valley faced the Central Red Devils. Central came in to the match out scoring their opponents 16-0 over the first four matches. PVHS opened the scoring 16 minutes in to the 1st half as Emma Buck found the back of the net. The Howlers held the shot advantage through 40 minutes and the 1-0 lead.

Lexi Ireland erupted in the second half, scoring the next three goals for the hat trick. Ireland’s 1st goal came off a perfectly placed pass by Emily St. Cyr. Delaney Theriault scored her first goal of the season as she sent a blast over the hands of the keeper. The game would finish 5-0 as Emilee Ireland earned a shutout with 14 saves on 21 shots, as the Howlers improve to 3-0. Red Devil goalie Alexis Gibson had 8 saves on 30 shots as Central falls to 4-1. PVHS defeated Central JV’s 5-1.
