Tatum scores 40, Celtics rout the Raptors

January 4, 2021

Jayson Tatum shot a very efficient 11-19 from the floor including 5-8 from three-point range and 13-13 from the foul line Monday night, scoring 40 points to lead the Boston Celtics to a 126-114 win over the Toronto Raptors at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

In a rematch of a seven game Eastern Conference Semifinal playoff series won by Boston back in September, Toronto (1-5) came out flying to a 23-10 lead. Boston (5-3) though quickly took over the game taking the lead for good on a Tatum three-pointer in the second, and outscoring the Raptors 38-14 in that second period for a 15 point halftime lead. The Celtics stretched it to as many as 26 in the fourth for their second consecutive win. Payton Pritchard also had his best game so far as the rookie tallied 23 points and eight assists in the win. Tatum scored the third most points in his career, as he had two 41 point games last January and February against New Orleans and the LA Lakers. Grant Williams was also big off the bench, scoring 14 points with six rebounds and three blocks. The green will stay on the road to face the defending Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat on Wednesday night. Below is the recap from Mondays win-
