Dore garners second award in as many days

May 26, 2021

It’s been quite a week for Holden, Maine native and freshman Husson Eagles softball player Kenzie Dore. After leading her team into a first ever home appearance in the NCAA Division III Regionals this past weekend, Dore on Tuesday was named the first Eagle to ever be named to an All-American Team. On Wednesday, it was revealed that Dore was named the 2021 Shutt Sports/NFCA Div III National Freshman of the Year.

Dore batted .455 with 30 runs, 45 hits, eight doubles, three triples, four homeruns, and 38 RBI for 29-3 Husson this season. She had 14 walks, five stolen bases, and just seven strikeouts in 115 at bats. The third baseman also had a .717 slugging percentage, .513 on base average, and a 1.230 OPS. The Brewer High School graduate is also up for the Shutt Sports/NFCA Div III National Player of the Year that will be announced on June 3. She is the only first year player out of the 15 that are up for that honor.
