Brooke Sulinski scored 1:16 into overtime on Friday afternoon, lifting the University of Maine to a 2-1 victory over UMass-Lowell in America East Field Hockey action on Senior Day at the Maine Field Hockey Complex in Orono.

Despite most of the pressure being applied by Maine, UMass-Lowell was the first to strike in the contest. Jenna Berger scored at 6:59 of the second quarter to make it 1-0 Riverhawks. Hana Davis tied it on a penalty corner opportunity, re-directing a pass into the cage on a helper from Madisyn Hartley at 10:14. Cassandra Mascarenhas also assisted on the play and it was 1-1 at halftime. The Black Bears had more opportunities in regulation, but UML goaltender Eleonore Boekhorst kept it tied and eventually the game went to overtime. The game winner was another penalty corner and re-direction in front of the cage off a pass from Chloe Walton to Sulinski who ended it. The victory also means that Maine will host the upcoming America East Tournament the first weekend of November.

Mia Borley stopped two shots in net in the win, and Boekhorst stopped seven in the loss for the Riverhawks. The Black Bears had an 11-3 shots on goal advantage and also 7-3 on corners. The Bears play a non-conference game at Dartmouth on Sunday, before finishing the regular season on October 31 at New Hampshire.
