BANGOR— Carter Pelletier scored 16 second half points and his younger brother Camden Pelletier hit the game winning shot, to give Wisdom a 46-44 come from behind win over Bangor Christian in a Class D boys quarterfinal game played Monday night at the Cross Insurance Center.
In a first quarter that had four lead changes, it ended with Wisdom holding an 8-7 lead. The Pioneers scored the first basket of the second quarter. Bangor Christian followed that with an 11-2 run. The Patriots held a 26-16 halftime lead.
The Patriots had the lead up to 11 on two different occasions in the third quarter and held a 38-28 lead going into the final period. The fourth quarter turned into the Carter Pelletier show. He sparked an 8-0 run to start the quarter. Conrad Straubel made a three pointer to give Bangor Christian a 41-36 lead.
Carter Pelletier and Dominick Gendreau each made a three pointer to give Wisdom a 42-41 lead. Pelletier had another basket to give the Pioneers a 44-41 lead. Jason Libby made a three pointer to even the score for Bangor Christian with 2:40 remaining. The final points of the game came on a Camden Pelletier basket with 1:13 left on the clock.
Bangor Christian had one last opportunity but didn’t convert and Wisdom came away with the victory.
Straubel had 15 points (3 three pointers) and seven rebounds to lead the Patriots. Libby had 13 points (3 three pointers). Jalen Reed contributed 10 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Bangor Christian ended the season with a record of 11-7.
Carter Pelletier led the Pioneers with 16 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Kaden Daigle added 10 points and six rebounds. Wisdom (13-5) will play in a semifinal game against Machias on Thursday night.
