Emmett Allen had a team-high 18 points on Thursday night, as the George Stevens Academy Eagles held off the Sumner Tigers 61-50 in Class C boys basketball action in Blue Hill.
Allen had nine of his 18 points in the first quarter, as George Stevens broke out to a 26-10 lead after eight minutes. Logan Crowley had eight points in the second though for Sumner, and they outscored the Eagles 18-10 in the second to slice the deficit to 36-28 at the half. The Tigers got it all the way down to just a two point game in the fourth quarter, but GSA was able to knock down some free throws and got six points in the final period from Coby Reynolds to secure the victory.
Allen had four 3-pointers on his way to his 18 points to lead the way in the win for GSA, who improves to 10-2. Reynolds had 13 points, and Patrick Dagan put in 11. Also chipping in was Colby Eaton with eight points, and Sean Morey with seven. The Eagles will host Central on Tuesday. Isaiah Rivers led Sumner in the loss with a team-high 18 points. Crowley had 10 points, and Bryson Parritt contributed eight points as they fall to 5-8 on the season. The Tigers play at Jonesport-Beals on Tuesday.
