#20 Husson softball remains hot, cools off Thomas College with a conference doubleheader sweep

The #20 Husson softball team stayed unbeaten in league play and remained hot, while cooling off Thomas College on Tuesday with a dominating North Atlantic Conference doubleheader sweep in Waterville winning both games by mercy rule.

Game 1- Husson 13, Thomas 0 (5 innings-mercy): The Eagles scored seven times in their first at bat in rolling to the win. Morgan Tainter hit a two-run homer as part of the outburst to get her team going. Camryn King (Nokomis) led the way with two hits and four RBI, while Sophia Lynch (Bangor) added two hits and three RBI. Lydia Rice (Winthrop) and Emily Dunbar (Skowhegan) chipped in two hits each. Ana Lang (Searsport) got the win in the circle pitching the first 3.0 innings and allowed no hits with one walk and six strikeouts.

Game 2- Husson 13, Thomas 1 (6 innings-mercy): The Eagles scored in every inning except the fifth to sweep the doubleheader. Rice homered twice, while Dunbar and Allie Casavant also each went deep as part of the victory. King remained big with the bat with three hits, two RBI, and also three runs scored. Rice had four RBI and Tainter had three hits and knocked in three. Lang picked up her second win of the day in the circle to improve to 14-3 going the distance and giving up one run on four hits with two walks and 12 strikeouts. Megan Oberholzer had two hits for the Terriers who came into the doubleheader on a six game win streak. Thomas drops to 14-17 and 7-3 in the conference. Husson is now 25-4 and 8-0 in the NAC and will host a non-conference doubleheader against the University of Southern Maine on Thursday beginning at 3 p.m.
