Maine baseball pulls away from Bowdoin in non-conference action

The top of the lineup did the job on Tuesday evening for the Maine baseball team, and they scored six times in the sixth inning to pull away from Bowdoin College 11-6 in non-conference action at Mahaney Diamond in Orono.

Conor Moriarity had three runs and one RBI, and Cal Thompson contributed a two-run single for the DIII Polar Bears (15-19). The top seven hitters combined for 14 hits (14 for 29) and 10 RBI in the Black Bears win. Troy Carpenter had two hits which both went over the fence (solo homer, three-run homer) and four RBI to lead the way. He also scored two runs. Brody Rasmussen added three hits and three RBI, and would also score twice.

Jack Donlin (1-0) pitched 3.0 scoreless innings allowing three hits while walking one and striking out five in relief to pick up the victory.

Maine (15-25) will play another non-conference game on Wednesday when they take on Northeastern at Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field in Portland at 6 p.m.
