#20 Husson softball improved to 14-0 in North Atlantic Conference play with a pair of five inning mercy ruled shutouts over UMaine-Presque Isle up in the county on Wednesday afternoon.
In Game 1- Camryn King (Nokomis) went 5-5 from the leadoff spot including a homer, six RBI, and scored two runs in the 18-0 Eagles victory. Lydia Rice (Winthrop), Allie Casavant, and Lilly Snow all had two hits. Snow knocked in two runs, while Rice had one RBI. Emily Dunbar (Skowhegan) added two RBI. Ana Lang (Searsport) pitched a perfect 3.0 innings in the circle with five strikeouts to get the win.
In Game 2- The Eagles scored five times in the third inning in rolling to the sweep in a 10-0 win. Sophia Lynch (Bangor), Rice, Casavant, and Dunbar all homered. Rice and Casavant had three RBI each, while Lynch and Dunbar both drove in two. Lang (19-3), who was named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, went the distance (5.0 innings) to get her second victory of the day giving up just two hits with no walks and eight strikeouts. Hailey Saylor and Gracelyn Walsh had two hits in each game for the only offense for the Owls (13-18, 7-7 North Atlantic Conference). Husson is 31-4 overall and has already wrapped up the #1 seed for the upcoming NAC Tournament and will host in Bangor next week. The Eagles wrap up the regular season Saturday with a home league doubleheader vs Lesley University beginning at 1 p.m.
