Maine baseball dropped their America East Conference series opener to UMass-Lowell 2-0 on Friday evening at Mahaney Diamond in Orono. A RBI sacrifice fly and a RBI groundout by Joseph DeLanzo and Cal Chance respectively in the fifth and sixth innings was enough for the Riverhawks (17-27, 7-12 America East). Alfred Mucciarone (3-5) pitched a complete game six-hitter. Hunter St. Denis and Albert De La Rosa had two hits each for the Black Bears (17-28, 11-8). Jason Krieger (2-6) went seven innings in taking the loss allowing two runs on six hits with no walks and four strikeouts. Brennan Rumpf (Falmouth) pitched two scoreless frames. Game 2 of the series is Saturday at 3 p.m.
