BANGOR- The Temple Academy girls basketball team used a huge fourth quarter Tuesday night, and rolled to a 59-36 Class D South victory over Highview Christian Academy at the UMA-Bangor Fitness Center.
A close first half saw the two teams tied 9-9 after one quarter, and 21-21 at halftime.
Highview took their first lead of the game when Kelsi Upham hit a jumper, and Brooke Trafton buried a three pointer to begin the third to make it 26-21.
From that point on it was all Temple, as they outscored Highview 15-4 the rest of the third, and then 23-6 in the fourth to pull away and improve to 2-0.
The Bereans were led by senior Kiara Carr who filled up the stat sheet with 18 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and five steals. Her sister, freshman Deleyni Carr had 16 points. Selam Heinrich chipped in nine points, four rebounds, and three assists.
For 1-1 Highview Christian, Megan McDonald had 11 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals. Trafton finished with 11 points and seven rebounds. Cassidy Lessner had seven points and five rebounds.
Highview returns to action Thursday when they travel to Baileyville to face Class C North opponent Woodland at 5 p.m. Temple travels to Islesboro for a 5 p.m. game next Monday.
