Maine field hockey picks up first victory of 2026

Nicole Kowalewski scored a game winning third quarter goal, and Saylor Kuefler added a pair of goals on Friday afternoon as Maine field hockey picked up their first win of the season with a 4-0 non-conference shutout victory over Stonehill College in Orono.

The Black Bears snapped the scoreless deadlock when Kowalewski picked up the first goal of the season for Maine 2:32 into the third quarter. Martha Barratt also scored early in the fourth, while Kuefler added some breathing room as she tallied twice just 2:29 apart in that final stanza. Emily Chisholm, Taylor Stanford, and Eloise Penty each recorded one assist. Annabel Halkes registered the shutout in the cage with one save. Maine returns to action on Sunday when they host Davidson College at 11 a.m.
