UMaine men’s, women’s cross country place strongly at Maine State Meet

The University of Maine men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Maine State Meet at Bowdoin College in Brunswick on Saturday. The men finished second overall (47 points) while placing six runners in the top 15, while the women placed seven in the top 10 and won the meet (19 points). Here are top individual results for the Black Bears:

Men (8,000 meters)- Logan Ross (Falmouth) 4th place 25:14.63, Ethan Keller (Scarborough) 6th 25:25.62, Adam Bendetson (Scarborough) 11th 25:48.08, Carter Libby (Gray-New Gloucester) 12th 25:48.97, Kyle McLellan (Orono) 14th 25:50.42, Kai Morrow 15th 25:50.88. Bates College won the event (42 points).

Women (6,000 meters)- Evelyn Wool 1st place 21:17.24, Katelyn Macnamara 2nd 21:26.31, Lauren Hamilton 3rd 21:32.98, Kara Tschida 6th 21:47.30, Maggie Tripp (Thornton Academy) 7th 21:53.37, Kennedy Taylor 8th 21:55.95, Gretchen Plant (Hampden Academy) 9th 21:56.90. Following the 1st place finish at the meet, Wool was named Female Peformer of the Week by America East on Monday.

Both UMaine teams will travel to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on October 2nd to compete in the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University.
