Justin Thompson is named McGuire Seasonal Services male athlete of the week: Thompson joins Theberge, Bouchard, and Feeney as seven time AOW winner

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 207 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had seven Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Justin Thompson (Schenck) had two huge games and joins Karli Theberge (Hermon), Kolleen Bouchard (Houlton), and Gage Feeney (Washington Academy) as the only student/athletes to be named athlete of the week seven times.

McGuire Seasonal Services male athlete of the week

Justin Thompson – Schenck- basketball- had a triple double. 26 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists in 83-46 win over Katahdin. Had 31 points and 14 rebounds in 84-39 win over PVHS.

Runner up

James Mersereau- Machias- basketball- scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 75-49 win over Woodland. Had 17 points in 43-36 win over Calais. Scored 14 points in 103-42 win over Shead.

Other nominations

Kyle Donlin- Medomak Valley- basketball- averaging 18.25 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in helping Medomak Valley start the season 4-0.

Jacob Godfrey- Machias- basketball- scored 23 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in 75-49 win over Woodland. Had 13 points in 43-36 win over Calais. Had 14 points in 103-42 win over Shead.

Caleb Shaw- Central- basketball- made the game winning shot with 0.7 seconds remaining and scored nine of his game high 19 points in the fourth quarter in 55-54 win over Orono.

Dylan Gray- Central – basketball- scored eight of his 16 points in fourth quarter in 55-54 win over Orono.

Kyle Case- Washington Academy- basketball- recorded 15 points (all in first quarter), six steals, five assists, and three rebounds in 93-66 win over Mattanawcook.
