Erin Speed earns third roadrunner taxi female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 198 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had seven Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Erin Speed recorded two hat tricks this week and has four games of at least three goals this season. Speed and the Pirates have won three games in a row and sit at 7-5-1 with one game remaining in the regular season. This is the third athlete of the week honor for Speed, including her second this month.

Erin Speed- PCHS- soccer- recorded a hat trick in 5-4 win over Penquis. Had another hat trick in 3-0 win over Lee/Stearns. Speed joins Lindsey Morrill (10-20-11),Abby Burdin (4-29-12),
Delani Bennett (2) (1-5-15), Bryce Gilbert (1-30-16), Jordynne Littlefield (6-13-16), and her sister Alex Speed (4) (10-25-14) as student/athletes from PCHS that have been named athlete of the week.

Runner up

Karigen Coffin- Searsport- soccer- set the school record with her 79th career goal in 11-1 win over Vinalhaven.

Other nominations

Sydney Allen – Central- soccer- had three assists in a 4-0 win over Mattanawcook Academy. She also had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 victory over Dexter.

Emma Campbell- Central- soccer- recorded a hat trick in 4-0 win over Mattanawcook.

Searra Herbest- Caribou- soccer- recorded a hat trick in 5-3 win over Old Town.

Kim Voisine- Mattanawcook- field hockey- recorded a hat trick in 5-0’win over Hermon.

Brinsley Chasse- Orono- soccer- scored two goals and had one assist in 4-1 win over Dexter.
