Grant Kidon earns Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. This week, we had nine Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Grant Kidon averaged 26 points in leading PVHS to three wins this week. The Howlers are 10-4 overall and have won six straight. Kidon joins the following student/athletes from Penobscot Valley High School that have earned athlete of the week honors- Kayla Dube  (4)- (5-12-13), Arianna McKinnon (2) (5-31-14), Amy Hallett (2) (10-3-15), Ryley Buck (9-13-15), Jarrett Priest (4-30-16), Thomas Spencer (5-29-16), Leine McKechnie (5) (6-19-17), Jaeden Folster (5-28-17), and Lexi Ireland (1-13-18)

Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Grant Kidon- PVHS- basketball- the junior scored 20 points, including 17 in the second half in 56-50 win over Schenck. Scored 27 points (including 5 three pointers) in 58-44 win over Searsport. Scored 29 points (5 three pointers) in 58-51 win over Lee Academy.

Runner up

Colby McLean- Sumner- basketball- scored 38 points in 93-80 loss to Calais. Scored 22 points in 68-51 loss to Jonesport-Beals. Scored 17 points in 104-52 loss to George Stevens.

Other nominations

Taylor Schildroth- George Stevens- basketball- scored 32 points (all in the first half), including 8 three pointers in 104-52 win over Sumner. Scored 26 points in 99-34 win over Narraguagus.

Bryce Gilbert- PCHS- basketball- recorded 24 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and six steals in 54-52 win over Dexter. Recorded 17 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists in 58-29 win over Penquis.

Damyan True- PCHS – basketball- recorded 13 points, 16 rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 54-52 win over Dexter. Had eight points and seven rebounds in 58-29 win over Penquis.

Tyson Gray- Bucksport- basketball- scored 22 points in 55-41 win over Calais.

Zach Hartsgrove- Nokomis- basketball- scored 37 points in 68-65 win over Bangor.

Matt Fleming- Bangor- basketball- scored 32 points in 68-65 loss to Nokomis.

Zach Harris- Ellsworth- basketball- scored 24 points in 61-57 win over Presque Isle. Scored 18 points in 66-59 win over Caribou.
