James Doucette earns Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 285 past athlete of the week winners. 

This week, we had seven Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. James Doucette helped the Central Red Devils pick up three wins and put the Red Devils in position to grab a tournament spot. Doucette joins Max McHugh (5) (1-13-13), Andrew Speed (2) (5-22-17), Jordn Smith (1-18-14), Libby Cook (12-6-15), Sydney Allen (4) (6-3-18), Caleb Shaw (1-1-17), and Gage Poulin (4-29-18) as student/athletes from Central high school to earn athlete of the week honors.

Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

  • James Doucette – Central- Basketball – scored 31 points in 65-41 win over Searsport, scored 26 points in 61-50 win over Lee. Had 16 points, including 4 three pointers in 57-24 win over Searsport. 

Runner up

  • Elijah Wood- PVHS – Basketball- Had game high 16 points in 62-22 win over Penquis.Had game high 29 points in 65-59 win over Mattanawcook.

Other nominations

  • Jeremy Richard- Foxcroft- Basketball- recorded 24 points (14-17 FT), three rebounds, three steals, and two assists in 78-73 win over John Bapst.
  • Hyatt Smith- Foxcroft- Basketball- had 17 points and seven rebounds in 78-73 win over John Bapst.
  • Jagger Cummings- John Bapst- Basketball- scored 28 points (7 three pointers) in 78-73 loss to Foxcroft. 
  • Chris Plissey- Woodland- had 16 points (2 three pointers) and 10 rebounds in 45-44 win over Fort Kent. 
  • Reese Alley- Machias – Basketball – had 18 points, 7-10 from the field including 4-6 from 3 point range, four assists and three steals in only nine minutes in 85-20 win over shead.
