Lucas Ames named Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 287 past athlete of the week winners. 

This week, we had six Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Lucas Ames has juggled being a two sport athlete this winter and has excelled at both for Foxcroft Academy. Ames bumped up two weight classes to win the PVC championship. Ames is also a starter on the Ponies boys basketball team that will travel to Presque Isle for a prelim game this week. Ames is the 15th student/athlete from Foxcroft to earn athlete of the week honors. He joins Ryan Rebar  (3) (2-17-13), Donnie Boyer (3) (6-2-13), Peter Boyer (3) (10-19-14), Brianna Skolfield (2) (12-15-13), Mackenzie Coiley (2) (1-26-14), Julia Annis (2) (2-17-14), Tino Ayala (2) (12-28-14), Cameron Fadley (2-25-13), Jesse Provost (4-28-13), Kaleb Smith (4-21-13), Hunter Smith (4) (2-6-16), Ali Bourget (9-25-16), Evan Chadbourne (10-23-16), Nick Clawson (2) (11-12-17), Michaleb Niles (11-5-18), and Jeremy Richard (1-7-19).

Roadrunner Taxi female athlete of the week

  • Lucas Ames – Foxcroft- wrestling – bumping up two weight classes to 195 and pinning all three for PVC championship helping FA capture their 4th victory. Ames is also a starter on the Ponies boys basketball team who will be playing a prelim game at Presque Isle this week. 

Runner up

  • Matthew Fleming- Bangor- Basketball- had 30 points and 15 rebounds in 73-65 win over Hampden. 

Other nominations

  • Colby McLean- Sumner- basketball- scored 24 points, including his 1000 career point in 76-60 win over Central.
  • Kobe Pillsbury- Dexter – Basketball- recorded 21 points, nine rebounds, three steals, and three assists in 53-36 win over Central. 
  • Sabre Phelps- Woodland- Basketball- had 20 points in 59-47 win over Jonesport-Beals. 
  • Jack Thompson- Waterville- basketball- had 14 points and 14 rebounds in 79-65 win over Belfast.
