Alvin Robshaw earns male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. If you want to sponsor the female or male athlete of the week email Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. Use that same email to send your nominations in during the week. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 346 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had five Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Alvin Robshaw had 11 goals in three games to help the Penquis boys soccer team to three wins.
Robshaw joins Isaiah Bess  (5) (3-4-13), Trevor Lyford (3) (2-23-14), Cymeria Robshaw (2) (10-28-18), and Camryn Rolfe (9-30-18) as student/athletes from Penquis high school that have earned athlete of the week honors.


Male athlete of the week September 20th-25th

  • Alvin Robshaw- Penquis- soccer- had four goals in 6-4 win over Central. Had four goals in 4-1 win over PCHS. Had three goals in 4-1 win over Schenck.

Runner up

  • Jacob Brezovsky – Bucksport- soccer- had three goals and one assist in 7-0 win over Calais. Had four goals and one assist in 9-3 win over Sumner. Has now has four hat tricks in a row.

Other nominations

  • Andrew Poulin – Winslow- soccer. – had five goals and had one assist in 10-0 win over Belfast.
  • Chase Farnsworth – Dexter – golf- finished as medalist with a 41 in match against Foxcroft and Central at Whitetail golf course. The freshmen finished as medalist (low score) in five out of the nine regular season matches to help lead the Tigers to a 17-0 regular season.
  • JJ Rhodes- Machias – soccer- scored seven goals in a win over Jonesport-Beals. That broke his own record for most goals in a game by a Machias soccer player. He has 26 goals so far this season and 85 in his career.
