Ryan Jurgiewich earns second Down East Limousine male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 180 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had seven Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Ryan Jurgiewich earned his second athlete of the week honor. Jurgiewich struck out 20 to lead Schenck to a victory. The only out not recorded by a strikeout was on a bunt. He was also named athlete of the week on 5-31-14. Other student/athletes from Schenck high school to earn athlete of the week honors include Ashley Leavitt (9-30-12), Morgan Thompson (2) (2-1-14), Justin Thompson (6) (1-23-16), and
Chantel Lane (5-30-15).

Ryan Jurgiewich- Schenck – baseball- threw a 20 k game. Only other out was a bunt back to him in 7-2 win over Katahdin. For the week he threw 10 1/3 innings 28 strikeouts, two walks, four hits, and no earned runs. At the plate he was 3 for 6 with three walks (two intentional against Kathadin).

Runner up

Troy Reynolds- Searsport- baseball- pitched a no hitter and struck out 12, while also collecting three hits with his bat in 11-1 win over Greenville.

Other nominations

Chase Carmichael- Bucksport- baseball- had three hits and two RBI in 9-4 win over Washington Academy.

Nate Church- Foxcroft- baseball- pitched a no hitter and struck out nine in 4-1 win over Dexter.

Zach Bouchard -Stearns– baseball- pitched a one-hitter, striking out 11 on the mound, also going 2 for 4 at the plate with a double and single, driving in threeruns in 13-0 Season Opening Win Over Katahdin.

Mark Dibona – Stearns- baseball – had three hits in 14-0 Season Opening Win Over Katahdin.

Andrew Daigle – Stearns- baseball- had two hits in 14-0 Season Opening Win Over Katahdin.
