Bangor- Crystal Bell scored 17 points and Hannah Phillipon added 14 as the John Bapst Crusaders girls basketball team scored a Class B victory by a score of 51-44 over visiting Central on Saturday night at the Cross Insurance Center.
Libby Cook, who ended with a game high 22 points for the Central Red Devils, scored 8 points in the opening period as Central took a 12-4 lead after 8 minutes of play.
John Bapst would rally back outscoring Central 12-6 in the second quarter led by 6 points from Phillipon to cut the lead down to 18-16 at halftime.
The Crusaders took control of the game in the third quarter when Central starting point guard Sydney Allen had to go to the bench with 4 fouls. Bapst took advantage by outscoring Central 21-10 in the period including a long buzzer beating three pointer from Bell to make it 37-28 after three.
John Bapst would build the lead to as many as 16 in the fourth quarter as Central never got closer to 7 the rest of the way as that was the final margin.
John Bapst (6-4) also got 8 points from Madi Higgins and 6 from Abbey Lagasse. Central (5-5) got 10 from Sydney Allen and also 5 points from Emma Campbell. John Bapst will travel to Lincoln on Tuesday to play Mattanawcook while Central will host Foxcroft on Wednesday evening.
