Another good week of picks at 3-1 has me 20 goes over the .500 point but still alot of hockey left to be played. This week we pick the Hockey East series with Connecticut visiting Maine, a Boston showdown between rivals BU and BC and a NCHC game between Nebraska-Omaha and the number one team in the country North Dakota.

Last week 3-1-0  Season 32-12-8

Last week’s results:

Friday, January 8th

Maine 3, Colgate 1 correct pick

Boston College 7, Providence 3 correct pick

Saturday, January 9th

Colgate 5, Maine 1 correct pick

Quinnipiac 5, Harvard 4 (ot) incorrect pick

This week’s games:

Friday, January 15th

Connecticut (7-13-1, 3-7-1 Hockey East) at Maine (5-12-4, 2-5-1 Hockey East)

The Black Bears get back to Hockey East play by hosting the Huskies for a two game set. UConn is coming off a split in the Desert Hockey Classic hosted by Arizona State. They lost 4-2 Thursday against Michigan Tech before beating the host SunDevils 3-0 on Sunday. Maine is coming off a weekend split with Colgate and have played well at home with a 5-2-1 record at the Alfond.

The pick- We had good luck with picking the Black Bears on Friday night last week but I can’t do it here, the Huskies are playing a little better than Maine at the moment. UConn 4, Maine 2

#10 Boston University (11-6-3, 5-3-2 Hockey East) at #4 Boston College (14-4-2, 7-1-2 Hockey East)

A home and home Hockey East showdown between these two schools separated by a just a few blocks begins at Conte Forum Friday night. Boston University got a road win Thursday at #5 Harvard 6-5 before defeating UMass at home Saturday 7-2. The Eagles cruised past #4 Providence at home 7-3 before tying the Friars at Providence Saturday night 4-4.

The pick- I love how the Eagles are playing and I will take the home team in this one but I would almost expect a split over the weekend. Boston College 3, Boston University 2

Saturday, January 16th

UConn at Maine

Night number two of this series should also be a tight forechecking game. The Huskies look for the sweep but the Bears can’t allow that to happen in the friendly confines of the Alfond.

The pick- Maine gains a Hockey East split. Maine 2, UConn 1

#9 Nebraska-Omaha (14-5-1, 4-5-1 NCHC) at #1 North Dakota (18-2-2, 9-1-0 NCHC)

The Mavericks from Nebraska-Omaha visit one of the best teams in the country in top ranked North Dakota. The Mavericks are coming off a pair of conference losses in being swept last weekend at home vs Denver. Nebraska-Omaha only losses have come in conference as they hold a 10-0-0 non conference record. North Dakota hasn’t played a countable game since sweeping visiting Alabama-Huntsville back on 1/1 and 1/2. They played an exhibition game last Saturday night and beat the Under 18 Team USA development team 4-1.

The pick- The pick is real clear here. This team from North Dakota is no doubt going to be in the National Championship picture come late March early April. North Dakota 6, Nebraska-Omaha 2
