CORINTH–Delani Bennett and Alivia Hunt combined for 20 rebounds as the Piscataquis Community  High School (PCHS) Pirates controlled the boards in a 46-34 victory over Central on Friday evening.

Jordynne Littlefield scored the first four points of the game as the Pirates had the lead for the full 32 minutes. The Pirates held a 9-3 lead after the first quarter.  Central went 3-4 from the free throw line and had 0 field goals in the first eight minutes. Bennett scored six points in the second quarter, as the Pirates extended the lead to 21-14 heading into halftime.

PCHS outscored Central 12-4 during the third quarter to take a comfortable 33-18 lead into the fourth quarter. Bennett scored five points during the fourth quarter.

Bennett finished with a game high 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Pirates. Littlefield added 11 points, while Erin Speed filled up the stat sheet with nine points, four assists, and four rebounds. Alivia Hunt recorded four points and eight rebounds. Lexi Harris and Haylee Patterson scored four points each, and Brooke Trafton made one free throw. PCHS (7-3) will host Stearns on Monday. Libby Cook led the Red Devils with 11 points, Sydney Allen added nine points, Emma Campbell chipped in with eight, while Kaylee Townsend and Emily Smith scored three points each. Central (5-7) will host MDI on Monday evening.

PCHS shot 8-17 from the free throw line, while Central shot 13-19 from the line. The Pirates out rebounded the Red Devils 34-13.
