Highview girls pick up 9th win Saturday

BANGOR- The Highview Christian Academy Lady Knights basketball team continue to surprise everyone in their first year in Class D South. Cassidy Lessner poured in a game high and season high 20 points Saturday afternoon to lead the Knights to a decisive 55-26 victory over Class C South team Hyde at the UMA-Bangor campus Fitness Center.

The Knights, now 9-4, have surpassed the win total for any varsity girls basketball team at the school. The previous best was 8-9. HCA now sits in fourth place in the current Maine Principals’ Associaton Heal Point standings.

Highview only held a 3 point lead after the opening quarter but held Hyde from Bath to only 9 points total over the next two quarters to open a 24 point lead and cruise to the victory.

Highview also got 15 points from Kelsea McDonald and 11 from Cassidy Burns. Leading scorer Lessner and Burns are both transfer players from Central of East Corinth, now playing in Class B North.

Hyde falls to 5-8 and were led by Timesha Walker who had 10 points.

Highview returns to action Monday at Woodland at 5 p.m. while Hyde travels to Sacopee Valley Tuesday for a 6:30 p.m.contest.
