Hunter Smith helped make sure that his last regular season basketball game at Foxcroft Academy will have meaning. Smith made a shot to beat the buzzer at the end of regulation, he then capped off a 23 point performance with a game winning shot to beat the buzzer in overtime and lead the Ponies to a 61-60 win over Hermon on Tuesday night.

With the win, Foxcroft (5-12) unofficially could clinch a spot in the Maine Principals’ Association class B tournament with a win over Central on Thursday night and a Skowhegan win over Mount View also on Thursday night. The Central at Foxcroft game can be heard live at Eastern Maine Sports starting around 6:50. Central (10-7) is currently seeded #9 in the Maine Principals’ Association. The Red Devils still have a chance to get in the top 8 and host a prelim game with a win over Foxcroft and some help from others.
