Thomas and UMFK women’s basketball continue hot start

Amira Jones recorded 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Thomas College women’s basketball team to a 61-53 win over Wheelock on Sunday at the Thomas tip-off classic.

Thomas out-rebounded Wheelock 47-35. Abbie Nielsen added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Terriers, while Jordan Turner had 10 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

The Terriers have started the season with three wins, allowing only an average of 44 points in the three games.

Savana Jankowski and Necole White scored 16 points each to lead the University of Maine at Fort Kent women’s basketball team to a 78-52 win over the University of Maine at Machias in the other game at the Thomas tip off classic. UMFK is now 8-0.

Thomas and UMFK each won both of their games during the weekend at Thomas.
