John Bapst/Presque Isle girls and Ellsworth/Hermon boys highlight the Friday night high school basketball schedule

It is still early in the high school basketball season, but a couple class B girls basketball teams have a chance to get some big heal points on the Friday night before Christmas.

John Bapst (4-0) will host Presque Isle (3-1) at the Cross Insurance Center.  Presque Isle is currently in the top spot in the Maine Princials’ Association class B heal point standings. Their only loss came against Houlton when Kolleen Bouchard made two free throws with less than one second remaining. The Crusaders are second in the standings.  John Bapst defeated MDI 56-47 on Tuesday.

The Woodland Dragons girls basketball team will take a 4-0 record into Calais for a class C showdown this evening. The Dragons have averaged 63 points per game, while allowing only 26 points since an opening night 51-50 win over Narraguagus.  Calais has averaged 68 points, while allowing 23 points per game in their first two contests of the season.

In boys action, Ellsworth (4-1) will travel to Hermon (3-1).  The only loss for Ellsworth came against class C current top seed George Stevens. The only loss for the Hawks came against class B top seed MDI.
