Guerrette leads Husson women’s basketball to first NCAA tournament win in School history

Chandler Guerrette scored 28 points to lead the Husson University Eagles women’s basketball team to their first ever NCAA tournament win. 

The Eagles overcame a 32-27 halftime deficit to earn the 74-72 victory over DaSales at Medford, Massachusetts. 

Husson had five players finish in double figures, including Guerrette. Darla Morales and Maegan True had 11 points each. Kenzie Worcester had 10 points and five assists, while Sami Ireland came off the bench to record 10 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. Guerrette shot 13-16 from the free throw line. 

Morales gave the Eagles a lead they wouldn’t give back when she nailed a three pointer with 6:26 remaining in the fourth quarter to make it 57-55.  They expanded the lead to 68-60 when Ireland made two free throws with 1:05 left. 

The last time Husson won a national tournament game was in 1993. They joined the NCAA in 2004. Husson (23-4) will take on Tufts in a second round game on Saturday at 5 PM.
