Penobscot Valley High School 2017 Boys soccer preview

2016 recap: 6-4-4 record, 6th place in class D north, lost in quarter finals.

Info from coach Jeremy Durost

Expectations: Our goal is to return to the playoffs and make a deep run.

Strengths: Experience and depth . We return 8 starters and 12 letterman. With 9 seniors on a squad of 22 players, we’re hoping to have great leadership. Defense is a strength, where we have 3-year starters in Jonathan Littlefield, Austin Dube, and Brady Harding. Brad McKechnie and Zach Doore look to do much of the scoring. The freshmen class is talented, as evidence of them leading their middle school team to the Penquis league championship last year.

Challenges: The biggest position to fill will be goalkeeper. Currently newcomers (junior) Elijah Wood and (freshman) Zach Mitchell are competing for the spot. Scoring was down last year, so we need more people to step up. Schedule is among toughest in Class D, playing 6 games against Class C schools, and 4 against last year’s State Championship teams (Bangor Christian and Greenville).

Schedule: PVHS opens at M.A., then plays home against Schenck.  Click here for the full schedule.
