Another busy weekend in Maine Womens Athletics

Another busy weekend on the womens side in UMaine Athletics.

The Black Bears Womens ice hockey team swept a series at RPI Friday and Saturday. Cailey Hutchinson netted the game winner Friday night in the third period in a 2-1 Maine win, while Lydia Murray did the same Saturday for the 3-2 win. Maine is now 3-1, and will host Robert Morris on Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 1 pm.

The Maine field hockey team scored a win Sunday at the Maine Field Hockey Complex in Orono by a score of 4-0 over Vermont. Madison Cummings scored a pair of goals, and Libby Riedl and Brianna Ricker added markers as Maine improved to 2-1 in America East action. The Bears outshot the visiting Catamounts 16-2 with shots on the net. Maine is 8-4 overall.  The Black Bears hit the road to face UNH on Friday at 3 pm.

The Maine womens soccer team battled tough Sunday, but fell on a late goal by Vermont 1-0 at Burlington. Savana Yurick scored with just over 10 minutes left in the contest to lift host Vermont to the win. Shots on goal were 6-3 Vermont. Maine is now 4-8-1 overall and 2-3-0 in America East. Maine travels to Albany Sunday to face the Great Danes at 1 pm.
