Maine mens and womens basketball split pair of tune up games

Both University of Maine mens and womens basketball teams were in action Saturday at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor with exhibitions contests in front of their season openers in two weeks.

On the mens side, Isaiah White scored 17 points, had four steals, three rebounds, and two blocks to lead Maine to an 84-63 win over Husson. Andrew Fleming added 13, IIker Er had 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Trae Bryant chipped in 10. Maine will take on St Joseph’s College from Standish next Sunday at 2 p.m. at Memorial Gym on the UMaine campus in the final tune up game. The Bears season opener will be on Friday, November 10 when they travel to play Boston College at 7:30 p.m.

In the womens exhibition matchup, Maine fell to Stonehill College 68-49. Blanca Millan and Fanny Wadling both had nine points a piece. Freshman guard Dor Saar led the newcomers with eight points. Julie Brosseau and Maddy McVicar also chipped in seven points a piece.

Maine opens their season Friday, November 10 hosting the tip off tournament at Memorial Gym. Maine faces Tulane in the opener at 6 p.m., then will face either Dayton or Harvard Saturday at 4 p.m. Both games can be seen on ESPN 3.
