October 29, 2017

Parker Mackay scored a first period powerplay goal, and Riley Tufte added another goal late in second period Saturday night to lead the #10 Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs mens hockey team to a 2-0 win over Maine at Alfond Arena.

Maine had some good chances down 1-0 in the middle period, as Eduards Tralmaks and Nolan Vesey had the Bears best chance of the night on a two on one break but couldn’t capitalize. Hunter Shepard stopped all 26 shots to earn his first career shutout for UMD (4-2-2).

Jeremy Swayman made some key saves to keep Maine close and finished with 35 stops on the night, as the Bears slipped to 2-4-0. Maine was 0-3 on the powerplay, while UMD was 1-4.

Maine gets back into Hockey East play next weekend as they travel to UMass-Lowell for games Friday and Saturday. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. both nights.
