The University of Maine women’s hockey team battled to a 2-2 tie against Providence at Alfond Arena on Friday night.
The Black Beard took a 1-0 lead on a Michelle Weis power play goal 14:09 into the contest. Maureen Murphy scored two unanswered goals, before a second power play goal from Weis in the third period.
Providence outshot Maine 38-21. Black Bears goalie Carly Jackson recorded 36 saves. Maine (7-5-2) will host UConn on Sunday afternoon at 2 PM.
