Boys Soccer- PVHS 6 Searsport 0

September 29, 2018

Penobscot Valley secured a homecoming victory over visiting Searsport 6-0 on Saturday.  PVHS struck just 2 1/2 minutes into the game, when the Howler defense sent a Viking throw-in out of the 18 yard line to Brad McKechnie.  Brad sent the ball up past midfield to Grant Kidon, who went one on one with a defender and put the ball past goalie George Dakin.  Zach Doore scored next as he took a pass from Kidon across the top of the 18, and shot into the right corner.  Doore sent a long pass over the back line where McKechnie scored while going 1 on 1 with the goalie.  Grant Kidon finished the first-half scoring, by corralling a McKechnie cross and finding the back of the net again.

In the second half, Bryce Seeley started an attack by heading a Searsport goal kick at mid-field to McKechnie. Brad turned and attacked, drawing the defenders, and sending a perfect through-ball to Kidon who scored and completed the hat-trick.  Reece Carter finished off the scoring on the day, by putting in his first goal of the season off a direct kick outside the 18.

Elijah Wood and the defense secured the shutout, with Wood saving 8 of 10 Viking shots.  George Dakin, Charlie Spiegel, and Shawn Dakin combined to save 7 of 23 Howler shots.  PVHS won their 8th straight game, and improve to 9-1 on the season.  They face Schenck at home next Friday, where they’ll try to avenge their only loss of the season.  Searsport drops to 4-6, and will travel to Dexter the following Monday.
