Swayman to get first NHL start Tuesday night

Former University of Maine goalie Jeremy Swayman, now a property of the Boston Bruins organization, will get his first career National Hockey League start for the B’s on Tuesday night when they visit Philadelphia to play the Flyers.

Boston is without Tuuka Rask due to injury, and Jaroslav Halak who tested positive for COVID-19. Daniel Vladar started in net Monday night in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Flyers. Swayman posted a 47-40-12 record with a 2.52 goals against average at Maine in his three seasons, and was named a Hobey Baker Finalist for the 2019-20 season. Swayman signed with Boston March 17, 2020 at the conclusion of his junior year with the Black Bears, and this season has been playing with the Providence Bruins where he has posted an 8-1 record with a 1.89 GAA and a .933 save percentage. The Alaska, Anchorage native also won the Mike Richter Award as the nations top goaltender for his play in his last season in Orono, Maine.
