Balanced scoring attack leads MA girls basketball to win over Calais

In Calais on Thursday afternoon, nine players got into the scoring column as the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx took down the Blue Devils of Calais 74-30 in Class C girls basketball action.

Lauren House and Juliana Clukey each contributed three 3-pointers in the first half as Mattanawcook built a 20-3 after one quarter and 39-10 at halftime in rolling to their ninth win of the season (9-1). The Lynx shared the ball well with 23 assists on their 31 made baskets.

Addison Cyr led the way in the win with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Lauren House added 15 points with all of them coming in the first half. Also scoring for Mattanawcook was Megan House with 10 points and five assists, Clukey with nine points, Kaitlyn Thornton eight points and eight rebounds, Lily Wotton six points, Nevanah De LA Cruz four points, while Natalie Turner and Lilly Noonan had two points each. Kate McPhee had 16 points in the loss for Calais, who falls to 3-7. The Blue Devils return to action this evening at home (Friday 1/12) against PVHS, while the Lynx travel to Corinth to take on Central on Monday.
