Dagan helps GSA boys to a win over Sumner on Thursday night

In East Sullivan on Thursday night, Patrick Dagan had a game-high 23 points in leading the George Stevens Academy Eagles to a 64-56 Class C boys basketball win over the Sumner Tigers.

The teams had a very high scoring affair in the first quarter, with GSA coming out on top in the period 25-20 led by 10 from Dagan including two 3-pointers. It was tightly contested over the next two quarters, with the Eagles and Tigers tied at 34-34 at the half and the visitors holding a slim 48-47 heading to the final eight minutes. GSA (8-2) put four scorers in the book including five points from Dagan and five from Colby Eaton to outscore Sumner 16-9 in the fourth for the final eight point margin.

Sumner was led by Bryson Parritt with 15 points in the loss. Isaiah Rivers added 14 points, and Angel Valencia contributed 13. The Tigers are now 4-7 and will host Deer-Isle Stonington on Wednesday. Along with the 23 from Dagan, Eaton put in 13 points and Emmett Allen had 11 in the win for GSA. The Eagles visit Woodland on Saturday afternoon.
