TURNER, Maine – On National Student-Athlete Day, Noah Carpenter (Greene, Maine), a senior on the Leavitt High School football and baseball team hosted a Youth Sports Day at Tripp Middle School in Turner. As part of the event, Carpenter made a $1,000 donation to the Greene Youth Athletic Association, helped raise $370 and donated more than 100 pounds of food to the Turner Community Food Bank. The free event included a food drive, autographs, raffles and games with the future Maine Black Bear who will play football and baseball in Orono.

Carpenter, 18, was the starting quarterback for Leavitt High School and is a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year and the most recent Fitzpatrick trophy winner, awarded to the state’s top senior high school football player. Carpenter won back-to-back state championships with the Hornets in 2022 and 2023.

“It was fun to be able to celebrate youth sports in our community with this event on National Student-Athlete Day. I am very grateful that Gatorade provided me with the opportunity to make a donation back to my community which has supported me in so many different ways. It was awesome to see so many people come out and be part of the celebration of youth sports and be part of the food drive; it was a great day,” said Carpenter.

Carpenter is passionate about improving food insecurity in Maine, which is why he wanted to also host a food drive as part of the event. Attendees were encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Turner Community Food Pantry. There were also raffles and giveaways at the event. The event raised more than $370 for the food bank and led to a donation of more than 100 pounds of food.

The free community event was sponsored by Pliable Marketing, a Maine-based marketing company that supports athletes with athlete branding including name, image and likeness opportunities.

“Noah is an outstanding athlete and is extremely grateful for the support he has received during his sports career. He let me know he wanted to find a way to give back to his community and encourage other young athletes to dream big. Hosting this event on National Student-Athlete Day was a great way to celebrate the support he has received from teammates, coaches, teachers, volunteers and the entire Greene Youth Athletic Association. As he continues his football and baseball career at the University of Maine, Pliable is excited to be able to sponsor this event and inspire more talented athletes in Maine to go play sports and go after their dreams,” said Greg Glynn, Athlete Brand Advisor & CEO of Pliable.
