Bowdoin wins two of three in regular season NESCAC series finale over Colby to grab the #3 seed, as both teams head to the league playoffs

Colby baseball scored five runs in the second inning and built a 6-0 lead on Saturday afternoon, and held on for a 7-6 NESCAC win in Game 2 of a doubleheader and a regular season finale in Brunswick.

Tony Silva had two hits and two RBI to lead the Mules, Henry Silva had three RBI (including a two-run homerun), while Myles Gythfeldt and Duncan Cullinane added two hits and one RBI each. Cullinane hit a solo homer. Conor Moriarity knocked in three runs for the Polar Bears, who won the first two games of the series 20-0 on Friday and 6-5 in Game 1 on Saturday to finish third in the conference.

Both teams are headed on the road to the NESCAC Tournament starting with quarterfinals on Friday, which will be a best of three series with higher seeds hosting. Colby (19-13, 5-7 NESCAC) is the #4 seed and will play at #1 Amherst College with Game 1 on Friday at 3 p.m., while Bowdoin (15-18, 5-7) is the #3 seed and will be at Middlebury College for Game 1 at 3 p.m. Friday. Game 2 of each series and location is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, with a Game 3 (if necessary) to be played 30 minutes after Game 2.
