Northeastern beats Maine baseball in non-conference action in Portland

Northeastern used nine different pitchers and quieted the Maine offense on Wednesday night in a 5-1 non-conference baseball win in a game played at Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field in Portland.

The Huskies scored three times in the third inning, and that was enough to secure the victory. AJ Aschettino and Henry DiGiorgio both had two hits, Matt Brinker knocked in two runs, while Tyler Harmony and Ryan Gerety both had a hit and one RBI. Scott Longo (1-0) pitched a perfect second inning to get the win as Northeastern improved their record to 26-17. Hunter St. Denis had two hits and knocked in the only Black Bears run. Thomas Stabley (0-4) started on the mound and was tagged in the loss allowing three runs on four hits with one walk and two strikeouts in 3.0 innings. Maine (15-26), who has won four straight league series after losing their first one of the year, will get back into America East action this weekend with three games on the road at first place Binghamton. Game 1 is Friday night at 6 p.m.
