Bowdoin men’s lacrosse advances to the Division III Final Four

At Whittier Field in Brunswick on Friday evening, the Bowdoin men’s lacrosse team defeated previously unbeaten Hope College 20-7 in a NCAA Division III National Quarterfinal game. The victory sends the Polar Bears to the national semifinals (Final Four) also at home on Whittier Field on Saturday night at 7 p.m. against either Babson or RIT with a trip to the national title game next weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia on the line.

Bowdoin (19-1) never trailed and raced out to a 10-2 halftime lead and never looked back. The Polar Bears got goals from eight different players in that opening 30 minutes. The Flying Dutchmen end up with a 20-1 record and were led by Gibson Heethius who had one goal and four assists. Huck Trafton from York, Maine led Bowdoin with four goals and one assist, while three others added four points each- Hudson Greene and Troy Ulisney (three goals, one assist), and Sam Raye-Steiner (two goals, two assists). Alec Delgado made six saves in net, while Eddie McElroy played the final 4:13 and didn’t face any shots. The 19 wins by the Polar Bears is a new program record.
