Ellsworth got a bases loaded walk in the top of the eighth inning on Thursday, and sent Hermon softball to their first loss of the season with a 6-5 victory at Labat Softball Complex in Orono.
The Hawks (5-1) got out to a fast start, grabbing three runs in the bottom of the first and had leads of 3-0 and 5-4 in the game. The Eagles (5-2) tied it on a passed ball in the seventh to send it to extra innings. Leah Walker had two RBI for Hermon, while Becca Balmas had two hits, and Elena Walker had a hit and scored two runs. Balmas took the loss in the circle in relief allowing three runs (only one earned) over five innings with seven walks and 11 strikeouts. Ellsworth took advantage of 12 walks. Jenna Moon had one hit, one RBI, and one run scored. Abagail Doyle scored twice. Camryn Clough fired a complete game giving up five runs on eight hits with two walks and 14 strikeouts to earn the pitching victory.
