Johnson, Rutherford help lead Bangor baseball over Mt. Ararat in Class A semifinals

Bangor scored five times in the top of the third inning on Saturday afternoon, capped off by a three-run homerun from Kyle Johnson in a 5-2 victory over Mt. Ararat in a Class A North baseball semifinal game played in Topsham.

Jacoby Harvey and Jonas Gilley had two hits each for the Rams. Johnson led his team with his three RBI, while Harvey and Ethan Sproul each added one RBI. Lucas Rutherford was solid in picking up the win on the mound going the first six innings allowing two runs on six hits with two walks and nine strikeouts. Gavin Glanville-True pitched the seventh to get the save. Will Davis had two hits for the Eagles, while Jake Morrell had two RBI. Mt. Ararat ends their season with a record of 14-4. Bangor (15-3) will take on top seed Oxford Hills in the regional championship on Tuesday at Morton Field in Augusta.
