Bangor Christian got an infield single from Mason McNally in the eighth inning to get a walk off 13-12 semifinal win over Katahdin in a Class D semifinal game played at Husson University on Saturday afternoon.
Bangor Christian overcame a 5-2 deficit when they put eight on the scoreboard in the third inning. Ashton Peavy got a hit that scored two and gave the Patriots a 7-5 lead.
The Patriots held a 12-9 lead after four innings. Katahdin rallied for three runs in the fifth inning sparked by a Wyatt Pippes single that evened the score at 12.
The score remained even until the bottom of the eighth inning when Blaze Morris led off with a single, and advanced to third on a Drake Nash single. After an intentional walk, McNally hit a grounder to third and Morris came home to give Bangor Christian the wild win.
Calvin Richardson powered the Cougars offense with four hits and four runs scored, including a double and triple. Bradley Swallow reached base four times with three hits and three runs scored. Addison Young had three RBI.
Nash had four hits, three runs scored, and one RBI, including a triple. Jack Kowalski reached base four times with two hits and two runs scored. Gaige Farrar had two hits and three RBI. McNally had two RBI. Nash was named Pine State Nutrition player of the game. Bangor Christian will play Fort Fairfield in the regional championship game at UMaine on Tuesday.
