At the Maine Field Hockey Complex- The Black Bears were dominated at home for a second straight time to begin the season against a nationally ranked opponent, as the Minutewomen rolled 7-0. Isla Campbell scored 6:37 into the first quarter, and that is all UMass (2-0) needed. The big offensive producer was Amber Fairon who scored four times and added an assist. Rozárie Mrázová, the former Maine Black Bear, played in net in the first half and didn’t face any shots. Colleen Conlan was in goal on the final 30 minutes and made three saves to help maintain the shutout. Fiona Günsch and Annabel Halkes both were in the cage for 0-2 Maine. Günsch made six saves, and Halkes stopped five. The Black Bears continue their season opening homestand when they host Stonehill College Friday at 1 p.m.
At Beyer-Small Field in Hamilton, New York- The Black Bears women’s soccer team snapped a two game losing streak by batting to a 0-0 tie with the Raiders of Colgate.
