Maine Maritime Academy men’s and women’s soccer both stayed unbeaten in the North Atlantic Conference on Saturday by defeating Vermont State University Johnson on homecoming at Ritchie Field in Castine.
In the men’s game- Mason Quiet (Falmouth) scored a second half game winning penalty kick goal, as the Mariners won 2-0. Hunter Crea also added a PK goal about two minutes later. Reagan Moynihan played in net and didn’t face any shots in the shutout victory. Maine Maritime Academy (2-3-1, 2-0 North Atlantic Conference) will play a non-league game on the road at Bates College on Wednesday night at 7.
In the women’s game- Taylor Webster scored her second goal of the evening which was a game winner in the 75th minute, as the Mariners squeezed out the 2-1 victory over the Badgers. Kylee Cyr and Harlow O’Leary (Thornton Academy) each picked up an assist for Maine Maritime, who improves to 5-3 and 2-0 in conference play. Isa Thesing made one save in goal. The Mariners will be on the road at Vermont State University Lyndon next Saturday afternoon at 2:30.
