Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. This week, we had eight Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Elijah Wood averaged 25 points in helping the Penobscot Valley high school (PVHS) boys basketball team pick up two weeks and improve their record to 12-2 on the season. Wood joins Kayla Dube (4)- (5-12-13), Arianna McKinnon (2) (5-31-14), Amy Hallett (2) (10-3-15), Ryley Buck (9-13-15), Jarrett Priest (4-30-16), Thomas Spencer (5-29-16), Leine McKechnie (9) (5-20-18), Jaeden Folster (5-28-17), Lexi Ireland (5) (1-13-19), Grant Kidon (1-28-18), and Jonny Littlefield (6-3-18) as student/athletes from PVHS that have earned athlete of the week honors.

Elijah Wood- PVHS- Basketball- scored 21 points in 73-35 win over Greenville. Scored 29 points in 94-51 win over Stearns.

Keegan Gentle- Houlton- Basketball- recorded 22 points, five rebounds, and four assists in 75-59 win over Central Aroostook. Had 18 points and 7 rebounds in 59-48 win over Mattanawcook.
