The defending state champion and top seeded Bucksport softball team scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to sneak past #9 Winslow 11-10 in a Class C quarterfinal played at Bucksport High School on Thursday afternoon.
The Black Raiders had multiple run leads on three different occasions- 3-0, 8-4, and 9-6. The Golden Bucks tied it 9-9 in the fifth, and after Winslow regained a slim 10-9 advantage in the sixth, the hosts scored twice in the bottom half to get past the pesky 9 seed. Avery Robshaw had the game winning RBI double. Maddy Cochran and Abigail Kiidli had four hits each for Winslow. Kiidli drove in three runs, as did Prestyn Myatt with a three-run homer. Cochran scored four runs, as the Black Raiders end their season with a record of 9-9. Lexi Raymond, Marina Keene, and Robshaw each had two hits for Bucksport. Robshaw had three RBI, and Emma Clement knocked in two. The Golden Bucks (16-1) will host Narraguagus at 1 p.m. Saturday in the semifinals.
