Oxford Hills built an 9-2 lead in the third inning on Thursday night, and would advance to the Senior Legion State Baseball Tournament with a 10-5 victory over the Hammond Lumber Riverdogs in an elimination game of the pre-qualifier at Hampden Academy.
Gabe Damon had two hits, two RBI, and scored two runs to lead the way. Cam Pulkkinen added three hits, one RBI, and also scored twice. Kaleb Peavey also had three hits, Jacoby Turcotte drove in two, while Cassius Thibeault chipped in two hits and one RBI. Thibeault also got the pitching win, and was charged for three earned runs on nine hits with four walks and six strikeouts in 5.2 innings. Iven Ingraham had three hits, Andrew Cote added two with one RBI, and Bodie Bishop cranked a two-run homerun in the loss for Hammond Lumber who ends their season with a record of 16-5. Oxford Hills (15-4) begins play in the four team double elimination state tourney on Monday at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor.
